This year’s world champion dog contest took a different a different form than in past years. Instead of a competition featuring live dog performances at the Maine Boat & Homes Show in Rockland, show visitors and online viewers voted for their favorite pooch featured in Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors’ Boatyard Dog column during the past year. The change was a result of concerns about crowds at a live dog trial in light of Covid-19.
ROCKLAND, MAINE— For 200 years, Mainers have built some of the world’s best boats. This tradition continues to this day. In celebration of Maine’s Bicentennial, a special exhibit at the Maine Boat & Home Show on the Rockland Waterfront from Aug. 13-15 will honor this heritage.
This coming August 13-15, the Rockland waterfront will once again be lined with fine boats and yachts, historic Maine vessels, and tents filled with all aspects of living life on the coast with the 2021 edition of the Maine Boat & Home Show.
“We are so thrilled to be coming back this year,” says show organizer John Hanson, “We really missed it last summer. The Maine Boat & Home Show is a celebration of the creativity of Maine’s small businesses, and it will be great to see everyone again and feel that incredible energy that is the show.”
Maine artist Colin Page, who is known for his light-filled land and seascapes, has been chosen to paint the poster for the 2021 Maine Boat & Home Show.
