2012 Events Schedule

The show offers a weekend full of exciting and fun events for the whole family, and there are lots of things going on in the community too. As part of the show, there's the new "Under the Hood" exhibit all weekend long, an area with a model pond and activities Just for Kids, a SUP Jousting Tournament (Saturday afternoon), and, of course, the annual Boatyard Dog Trials on Sunday morning—and much, much more! Scroll down for details. All events on show grounds are FREE with show admission ($12 adults, under 12 free). Prices vary for the community events.

The story of the design and construction of Maine's First Ship, a small but rugged vessel built by the earliest settlers at the mouth of the Kennebec.

Kevin C. Mills is an award-winning journalist and author who has chronicled the triumphs and tragedies of his maritime ancestors in two historical novels.
  Betsy Bowen, Spring Bear: a novella (fiction)
A stark and gritty tale from the Maine woods about Evvie Mallow, two life or death decisions, and a future that is never quite the same.

North Haven Summers: An Oral History (non-fiction)

A story that chronicles the many generations of summer residents sailing the waters of North Haven and Vinalhaven. Mechanic Street: Uncovering the History of a Maine Neighborhood (non-fiction)
A search for the origins of a street where shipbuilding was king in Rockland.
  Kendall Merriam (2 books)
The Illustrated Dictionary of Lobstering (non-fiction) and The Maritime Poems (poetry)
Kendall Merriam, first Poet Laureate of Rockland, was born and raised in Rockland where he now lives. He has written about everything from lobstering to Mongolia.

Beowulf lives in St. George, Maine, and worries about dragons. His lifetime ambition is to be a Boatyard Dog at the Maine Boats and Harbors Show.
