Back Cove, Sabre Launch Landing School Scholarship

Monday, July 28th 2025

Just in time for back-to-school season, Saber Yachts and Back Cove Yachts have announced a new scholarship opportunity for students pursuing careers in the marine trades at the Landing School of Boatbuilding and Design in Arundel.

The scholarship was initiated by Aaron Crawford, Sabre and Back Cove president and CEO and a Landing alumni and trustee, and follows a decades-long relationship between the three entities.

According to a release issued by the school, “The Sabre and Back Cove Yachts Scholarship will support incoming or current Landing School students who demonstrate skill, motivation, and a clear commitment to working in the marine industry. As part of the application process, selected finalists will interview with Sabre and Back Cove leadership and spend instructional time in the production shops of the Sabre and Back Cove Yachts facility in Raymond and Rockland, Maine—offering a valuable inside look at two of the region’s leading yacht manufacturers.”

Scholarship applications for the 2025-2026 school year are due August 15. To apply or learn more visit landingschool.edu/scholarships.

“This is about more than just financial support,” said Crawford, in announcing the scholarship. “It’s about continuing to invest in the next generation of marine professionals—people who will design, build, and support the boats that define our future. The Landing School helped me find my footing in this field, and it’s an honor to help make that path more accessible to others."

John V. Caron, The Landing School president, noted, “This scholarship represents what makes The Landing School unique—a direct bridge between education and industry.
