Marine Tech Exams Covered by the GI Bill

Service veterans pondering a career in the marine trades can now count on U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs education benefits when they take certification exams conducted by the American Boat & Yacht Council.

Exams that qualify for reimbursements include Advanced Marine Electrical, A/C Refrigeration, Marine Composites, Marine Corrosion, Marine Electrical, Marine Engines and Fuel Systems, Marine Standars, Marine Systems, and U.S. Coast Guard Recreational Boat Regulations.

“This marks a historic step forward for veterans who want to turn their skills into meaningful careers in the marine industry,” Casey Bates, ABYC certification manager, said in a release. “Veterans bring valuable technical experience and leadership, and we’re proud to support their next chapter through access to ABYC certifications.”
