Just in time for Labor Day and the fall boat hauling season, Kennebunkport Marina has acquired Southern Maine Marine Services, a family owned company that’s been in business for more than 40 years.
According to a release announcing the merger, SMMS owner Paul Lariviere plans to stay on as the special projects lead and will help customers with large projects, refits, and repowers. He will also head up the company’s marine technician training program.
In addition to being a Mercury Outboard dealer, Lariviere’s company offered boat sales, a retail store, mooring services, boat hauling and storage, and canvas work.
Kennebunkport Marina is a full-service yard, with docks in the heart of downtown Kennebunkport. The company offers similar services, along with dock space and kayak rentals. The company will now be a dealer for Mercury Suzuki, and Yamaha outboards.
“This is an exciting step forward for both businesses and, more importantly, for the boating community we serve,” Shawn Dumas, general manager of Kennebunkport Marina, noted in a release. “By joining forces, we will be able to offer boaters in Southern Maine better pricing, more comprehensive services, and direct access to a wider array of brands.”
