Maine Coast Guard Stations Get Funding
Thursday, January 2nd 2025
Still recovering from damage caused by storms a year ago, three Maine Coast Guard facilities are recipients of funding included in disaster relief legislation that was passed by Congress and signed into law, according to a release from U.S. Senator Susan Collins, vice chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
The legislation includes more than $210 million for a variety of construction projects.
These include $40,700,000 to repair the pier and boathouse in Rockland. The structures were already in need of renovations, but their condition was made worse by storm surge, wind and waves in back-to-back storms during January, 2024.
Southwest Harbor Coast Guard will receive $880,00 to replace dolphin piles, short ties, lighting and other work.
Portland Coast Guard will get $502,000 to repair its pier and survey for future dredging.
