I have been taking pictures for years, though mostly family photos. I kicked my game up a notch when I started teaching high school students carpentry skills at Mid-Coast School of Technology and began to photograph students at work on projects. Without a doubt, the digital camera was a game changer, as I began to carry one with me always. Several years ago, I started a coffee roasting business, Coffee on the Porch, and found myself upping my photography skills once again. I used the photos to promote my business on social media and found that pictures of midcoast Maine attract a large audience. Over the last several years, time spent behind my lens has become when I can relax and reflect, especially during early morning outings. I aim to get to the harbor before sunrise. These mornings are filled with activity—eagles, ospreys, harbor seals, and even the occasional otter.
