The Best Maine-made Vessels and Home Furnishings are at the Fifth Annual MAINE BOATS, HOMES & HARBORS SHOW August 10-12, 2007 Rockland, Maine CAMDEN, Maine - The 5th Annual MAINE BOATS, HOMES & HARBORS SHOW will be held on the Rockland waterfront August 10-12, 2007. The coastal lifestyle show is the only annual in-the-water event of its kind in the state. There will be 125 vessels on display, from rowing craft and runabouts to poweryachts, daysailers to round-the-world cruising sailboats, all arrayed on more than 2,200 linear feet of dock space and on land. Marine vendors will offer everything needed for boat outfitting, from electronics, engines, and marine systems, to canvas, sails, and rigging. And it’s not just about boats. The area’s best artisans will display Maine-made furniture, home wares, fine art, crafts, and jewelry. Two tents will be dedicated to members of the Maine Wood Products Association and Directions: Maine Crafts Guild, including wood creations, pottery, blown glass, and fiber art. New Boat Debuts: Boatbuilders from Maine and beyond will debut their newest creations. Among them are two “Spirit of Tradition” sailing vessels, a 50' fast daysailer from Brooklin Boat Yard and the 30' cold-molded daysailer/racer Spitfire, built by French & Webb of Belfast. Motor yacht debuts include the 62’ aluminum ocean-crossing Barbara, designed by Michael Porter Marine Designs and built by Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding, and the Sabre 52 Salon Express, the largest and most luxurious Sabre motor yacht offered to date. In the lobsterboat tradition are the Surfhunter 25 center console from Hunt Yachts, and the True North 34 cruiser from Pearson Yachts. The Outward Bound 30, built by Southport Island Marine to replace the wooden pulling boats used in the school’s sailing program, will be displayed. Rounding out the vessel debuts is the 24' Avid Sea Skiff from J & J Marine Yacht Group. Visitors are invited to come on board to talk with all the builders and to see, in detail, what makes Maine-made boats world-famous for design and construction. Maine Craftsmanship on Display: Joining those from the marine trades will be the region’s best fine furniture makers, architects, jewelers, artists, and photographers. “Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors has always celebrated all aspects of coastal creativity,” said John K. Hanson, Jr., publisher of Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors magazine and the show’s founder. “In addition to boats and boatbuilding, the magazine features the work of outstanding craftsmen from a wide variety of fields. The home section of our show reflects that diversity. Stroll through the show and you can talk with realtors and architects and find all of the amenities to furnish and decorate your home’s interior and exterior.” Architects include Victor Trodella and Beckstrom Architecture & Planning. The handmade, period-inspired cabinetry of the Kennebec Company will be on display, as will the cabinetry and millwork of Koehler Woodworks, plus granite countertop designs by Freshwater Stone. Furniture offerings range from those of the nationally recognized Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers, to Maine Cottage Furniture’s colorful creations, to numerous woodworkers whose work blends traditional and contemporary styles. (Note that the show also features select products that are not from Maine.)
