Ice boaters finally got onto the ice

Most people stayed inside Friday and Saturday as temperatures across the state plummed deep into negative territory and hig winds exacerbated the chill. 
Ice boat sailors from Chickauwaukee Ice Boat Club enjoyed Sunday’s mild weather and moderate winds to launch their boats on Damariscotta Lake where they sailed through the left-over drifts of snow. There were about a dozen boats ranging from the speedy Whizz calss, DN’s and mini-skeeters to the glorious Cheapskates. For most of the sailors, this was the first outing of the year, and everyone was smiling. Here the boats were lined up ready to race.
