The boatbuilders at the Hinckley Yachts yard in Trenton, Maine, have a busy few months ahead as the company prepares to launch two new models, the Hinckley 41 and a Picnic Boat 45.
The 41 will be an outboard-driven boat and based on the design work that went into the popular Picnic Boat 39, which made its debut a year ago. Both the 39 and 41 are a result of a collaboration with designer Doug Zurn and Zurn Yacht Design. They feature forward and aft cockpits, a central cabin, and accommodations below that include a double berth and enclosed head.
The Picnic 39 is driven by a pair of 480-hp Volvo Penta inboard engines and Hamilton water jets. The 41 will come standard with triple Mercury Verado 350-hp outboards that can be upgraded to triple 400-hp motors. The boat is estimated to reach a top speed of just under 65 mph with the latter.
Expect to see the new 41 out on the water this fall.
Late in 2027, the company expects to launch the Picnic Boat 45, according to Scott Bryant, vice president of sales and marketing. It will be powered with twin 725-hp Volvo Penta diesels and Hamilton water jets, controlled by JetStick 4 technology. The boat will cruise at 34 knots and have a top speed of 40.
There are three different aft cockpit configurations to match an owner’s cruising preference, include one with a grill for onboard dining. Down below, there will be two cabins, one forward and the other amidship. The 45 will also feature a forward seating area, ahead of the central cabin.
Looking at renderings, the 45 is an elegant looking boat, with Hinkley’s distinctive curling lines and large windows that provide 360-degree views, plus an overhead skylight to let in lots of light.
