Hunt Yachts, now owned by Portland-based DiMillo Yacht Sales, says its newest model, the Hunt 56, will be ready in time for the Newport Boat Show.
The 56, the smallest model in the Ocean Range, is still a big, roomy cruiser, with tankage and gear suited for extended voyages or weekend outings close to home.
Portland-based DiMillos acquired the Hunt Yacht brand last spring, securing an exclusive license agreement with Ray Hunt Design. The new 56 making its US debut will be a flybridge model, built on a Hunt Deep-V hull. An express version is also an option.
With an overall length of just over 63 feet, which includes the swim platform, and a beam of 15 feet, 7 inches, the 56 will have plenty of room for cruising and entertaining. The layout includes two en suite cabins, one amidships and the other forward.
The boat is powered by twin Volvo Penta 950-hp inboards and is expected to have a top speed of 30 knots. The 56 is designed for fast cruising at 27 knots and will have a maximum range of 1,080 nautical miles (fast cruise range of 315 nautical miles.)
“Since acquiring Hunt Yachts, our focus has been on building a strong foundation for the future while remaining true to everything that has made the brand so respected,” said Chris DiMillo, founder of DiMillo's Yacht Sales, in a press release announcing the boat’s U.S. debut. “The Hunt 56 is an exciting example of that vision coming to life. It embodies all the elements owners expect from Hunt, while being supported by the service, expertise, and long-term commitment that define the DiMillo's ownership experience.”
The Newport International Boat Show, in Newport, Rhode Island, runs Sept. 17-20.
