Boatyard Dog - Issue 119

Rocky

We can see here that Rocky is driving the boat, which makes sense because Rocky is Benjamin Mendlowitz’s assistant and someone has to do the driving while Mendlowitz, an acclaimed marine photographer, is working the camera. Rocky certainly has the tools for the job: a GPS to tell him where he is going, dials to report how the engine is doing, a throttle to speed him along, and a suicide knob on the wheel for lively directional control. This is all well and good, but it’s clear that Rocky doesn’t have his paws on the wheel. With no evidence to the contrary, we suspect that he is texting… errr…make that Rrrrexting…while he is driving! To which we say, WoofTH?!

We’d like to see your Boatyard Dog® (OK, OK, or cat... or other sea-going pet). Send a clear photo and pertinent details to BYD, P.O. Box 566, Rockland, ME 04841, or click here and use our online contact form. We are pleased to announce a renewed collaboration with The Bark, “the magazine of modern dog culture.” The Bark will be the media sponsor for the World Championship Boatyard Dog® Trials on Sunday during the Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show, August 10-12, 2012. (By the way, it’s not too late to try for a chance to compete in this zany event. Click here for entry details. No other pets are allowed on show grounds: please leave them at home.)
