New storage building for Hinckley
Plans are in the works at Hinckley Co. in Southwest Harbor, Maine, to build a new 19,500 square-foot heated storage shed on the company’s 19 acre yacht service complex on Shore Road. Hinckley General Manager Tara Regan said the new building will have room for at least 15 more boats, which will help the company better service its growing customer base. The 78-by-250-foot building, intended for the storage and maintenance of boats, gained approval at a May 4 meeting of the town Planning Board. Some neighbors had worred the company might use the building for yacht construction, but Hinkley now does all its boat construction at its facilty in Trenton, Regan said. Hinckley, which is owned by The Talaria Company LLC, has no plan at this time to resume boatbuilding in Southwest Harbor, she added. The company expects to add five new employees when construction is completed this summer.
